In line with our mission, “Contribute to the health and wellbeing of customers by delivering safe and reliable food that brings excitement,” ANA Foods will continue to pursue “food safety and security as irreplaceable value,” fulfill our responsibility to society, and increase the trust of our stakeholders.
We aim to achieve sustainable growth and increase corporate value not only through profitability, but also through environmental and social considerations and the establishment of a sound management (governance) system.

Materiality (Material issues)

We have defined eight issues of materiality as our medium-term challenges. We will work on the following as priority issues of materiality.

  • Reduce food disposal and increase food recycling rate

Improve the recycling rate of discarded food products through composting and biogas production

We deal mainly in fresh fruits (mainly bananas), and engages in processing activities daily at our facilities across Japan. However, in the course of processing, we are sometimes compelled to dispose of products due to their quality conditions. In such cases, we try to recycle them into compost and biogas, instead of just disposing of them as waste.
Going forward, we will work for environmental friendliness by reducing the amount of waste as well as increasing the recycling rate.

  • Reduction of energy use

Reduce electricity consumption through energy-saving activities and improve energy consumption per unit of production by at least 1% per year.

We process and produce fresh fruits (mainly bananas) at our facilities nationwide using ripening equipment and large refrigerators. Since these production facilities consume a large amount of electricity (energy) in their operations, we will work on measures to use energy efficiently (improvement of energy consumption per unit of production) while minimizing an increase in energy consumption from business operations.
In addition, as a member of the ANA Group, we will further promote activities to reduce energy consumption, which will contribute to the Group's long-term environmental goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

  • Providing safe and secure products and services

Strengthen our food quality control system and information asset management

In order to continue pursuing “food safety and security as irreplaceable value,” our approach to food safety, we will step up our food quality control system. In addition, since we handle a large number of information assets, we strive to strengthen our governance through information security and other risk management initiatives.

Initiatives for the other five material issues are as follows:

Materiality Initiatives
Reduce resource waste ratio Promote 4Rs in business operations (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
Collaborate with business partners for environmental friendliness Introduce and utilize environmentally friendly, renewable food and materials
Enhance satisfaction of business partners Establish a quality and operational management system that respects the diverse needs of customers and assures safety and security.
Improve job satisfaction and wellness of employees Reduce working hours across the company by pursuing higher quality of work, contributing to employees' work-life balance
Ensure compliance with laws and regulations Establish management systems required for sound corporate management
