Fresh Food Business

We offer a variety of items in our fresh food business. Our flagship products are our own-brand bananas—frescana from the Philippines and Tanabe Farm from Ecuador—which have been developed in conjunction with All Nippon Airways Trading Co., Ltd. At ANA Foods, we oversee everything from production to sales to deliver a safe, reassuring product that allows customers to understand where their bananas come from.

Our main buyers are major supermarkets, convenience stores, and fresh produce markets throughout Japan, and our banana sales make up approximately 10% of the domestic market by volume.

Note: The name "frescana" is a combination of the Spanish word for fresh (fresco) and ANA.

Tanabe Farm

The ANA Group signed an exclusive agreement in June 2005 with Tanabe Farm, which is located in Ecuador at an elevation of 300 meters, and has put an integrated distribution system in place that spans shipment from the farm to arrival at stores within Japan.
On top of utilizing the special characteristics of the Ecuadorian soil through Tanabe’s “Banana Recycling-based Agriculture”, a method in which spoiled bananas and inedible parts such as stems and leaves are reintroduced into the plantation as organic fertilizer rather than going to waste, the farm also controls product quality by using water disinfected through ozone treatment, and these processes ensure safety while also being friendly to the environment.
Bananas from Tanabe Farm meet the exacting standards of Masahiro Tanabe, the farm's owner.

frescana

We started our own banana brand, frescana, in November 2001, with the product name being a combination of the Spanish word for fresh (fresco) and ANA (as it is imported by ANA Trading). The plantation is located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, and the bananas are cultivated in a safe, environmentally friendly way through maximum reduction in the amount of pesticide and chemical fertilizer used.

AMAMI

These bananas are carefully and slowly grown at very high altitude of over 900 meters in Laos. Due to large temperature differences between day and night, these super highland bananas grow more slowly than normal bananas. This makes them sweet, chewy bananas with a dense flesh.
We are the only importer and distributor of Laotian bananas in Japan*. Laotian bananas are truly special in terms of its sweetness (amami).
